English Premier League side, Liverpool, have rejected a mouthwatering bid worth £150 million ($190 million) from Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ittihad, for star player, Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian captain has been linked with a move away from the EPL giant for several weeks, with the Saudi club finally making a verbal offer to Liverpool on Friday which was immediately rejected.
According to top journalist and transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Al Ittihad’s offer was a guaranteed £100 million, plus an additional £50 million in add-ons which The Reds promptly rejected.
English media also reports that the Premier League club are determined to keep Salah and plan to reject any further offer no matter the size.
Salah, who joined Liverpool from Italian side Roma in 2017, still has two years left on his a new three-year contract which he signed last year.
Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp told reporters on Friday:
“The position remains the same, absolutely. No doubt about that. We cannot sell Salah. That’s how it is. Nothing else to say.”
Also reacting to the Al-Ittihad link, Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas, said:
“Mohamed remains committed to Liverpool. If we considered leaving Liverpool this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer.”
The 31-year-old African star has scored 138 goals in 221 appearances during six seasons at Anfield, winning the Premier League Golden Boot on three occasions.
