The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has announced the official launching of the sixth edition of its annual cultural festival tagged, “December in GH”, with an events and festivities calendar, marking the beginning of the most exciting season of the year.
The launching which took place at the prestigious Castle Gardens in Osu on Friday, according to Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, represents a significant milestone in the ongoing success of the Beyond The Return initiative, which was introduced in 2019.
Agyeman stated that the 2024 edition of the event “promises a diverse array of activities, strategically spread across various regions, ensuring that everyone can participate in the festivities.”
Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Andrew Agyapa Mercer, who delivered a keynote address at the launching, highlighted the substantial economic impact of both the “Year of Return” and “December in GH” initiatives on the country’s economy.
“The Year of Return and December in Ghana have had a profound impact on our economy, and we cannot overstress its significance,” Mercer said, adding that the government is commitment to promoting the initiatives and positioning Ghana as a premier global destination.
Agyeman also shed light on the selection process for the events that will feature on the official ‘December in GH‘ calendar, ensuring a high-quality experience for all attendees.
“A rigorous evaluation process by a steering committee guarantees the success and enjoyment of all events on the calendar.
“ I encourage all Ghanaians to join in this year’s mission to give Ghana a global appeal and make all events lined up from sceneries and education through to nightlife and recreation a success,” he said.
