We lost over 350 residents of Durban in record floods: Mayor – Video



The Mayor of the South African province of Durban which witnessed the country’s deadliest floods in decades, Mxolisi Kaunda, has confirmed that the city lost over 350 residents in just two days of the disaster.

Residents of the area are still coming to terms with the impact of the monumental disaster and on Thursday, began sifting through the remains of shattered homes after the floods and landslips stoked by record rains devastated city.

The storms struck the southeastern province of KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday in what has been described as the country’s deadliest in recent history.

Video: I wish Congo the best, international players should act on facts – President Kagame



In this video, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda reiterated his position of seeking the “best” for Congo. Stressing that he is however prepared for the worst.

Congo DR and Rwanda have been at loggerheads with the later accusing the Kigali of supporting rebel group M23.  Kagame urged all players concerned in the diplomatic tension between the two East African neighbours to only be moved by the facts of the matter to find lasting solution to it.

Video: Bad governance caused Uganda’s economic woes, not Covid-19, Ukraine war – Kizza Besigye



Ugandan political activist, Kizza Besigye shortly after being granted bail by a magistrate court on Friday, addressed the press, stressing that Ugandan’s current economy woes are not fallouts of the Covid-19 pandemic or the ongoing Russia and Ukraine war, rather it is a product of years of bad governance and corruption under the current leadership of the country.

Ugandan has been ruled by President Yoweri Museveni, who took over power in 1986 and has ruled ever since, making him one of the world’s longest-serving leaders.
