Video: South Africa’s EFF MP Manyi condemns Ramaphosa’s retrenchment policy

Ahead of the 2024 presidential elections in South Africa, an opposition parliament member under the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Mzwanele Manyi, has condemned the recent decision of the government under President Cyril Ramaphosa to stop retrenchment in public enterprises across the country.

Manyi claimed that the move was nothing but an act of desperation through which President Ramaphosa and the ruling African National Congress (ANC) planned to score cheap political goals ahead of the elections when they, in reality, had no plan to deal with South Africa’s record unemployment.

“As we speak now, we have some 11.7 million people unemployed; these are fit people that can do the job, We never heard a word from Ramaphosa and his ineffective government about how to solve the problem… What he is just saying is put me in power first, then we can talk afterwards”, he said.
