Turkey-based Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has made a comeback to the Nigerian team after he was named by Head Coach, Jose Peseiro, as part of the 25-man squad for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire early next year.
Peseiro unveiled the Nigerian squad on Friday from a pool of 45 players he had earlier submitted to CAF as the Eagles aim for a fourth title.
The list consists of three goalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders, and eight attackers, featuring a blend of experienced faces and promising talents.
Captain Musa is making a comeback into the squad after being sidelined during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series, with other notable inclusions featuring the return of Wilfred Ndidi, and former Chelsea defender, Kenneth Omeruo, who was part of Nigeria’s 2013 squad.
William Troost-Ekong also made the list alongside Ola Aina, Chidozie Awaziem, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, and Zaidu Sanusi, among others.
In the midfield, Ndidi is expected to play a pivotal role in midfield alongside Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, Raphael Onyedika, and Frank Onyeka, while Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ademola Lookman, Musa, and others will be saddled with finding the back of the net for the team.
The Eagles are set to depart to Abu Dhabi for a one-week training camp before moving to Ivory Coast where they will face Equatorial Guinea in their opening Group A match on January 14.
