Nigerian rapper, Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has been over the moon after English Premier League club, Arsenal used one of his hit tracks to announce the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham United on Saturday in a record-breaking deal worth a £105 million.
In the unveiling video of the England international posted on Arsenal website, Odumodublvck song, “Declan Rice” was played in the background which has been creating buzz in the Nigerian music scene.
The rapper, who is a self-confessed Arsenal fan, reacted to the development by taking to social media to congratulate Rice and the club.
“Congrats to my boy on your new adventure @declanrice with @arsenal,” Odumodublvck wrote on Twitter.
“God bless everyone involved in this milestone, my producers. Abuja Stand Up.
“Thank you to everyone who pushed the club to use the tune. You might think you did not have any impact on this, but I really do feel that you guys did.
“The pressure was werser by the day. God bless you all. I am so grateful,” Odumodu said.
Odumodublvck released the smash hit “Declan Rice” in March as a tribute to the football player, and since its release, the song has been one of the top tracks on radio stations in Nigeria while also hitting the top of global streaming platforms.
In a recent interview, Odumodublvck had revealed that he and Rice developed a close friendship through their mutual appreciation for the song.
“I made a video vibing to the song. I posted it, and Declan Rice was like, ‘Jeez, the song is fire.’ Now we are friends,” he said.
“He is texting me that he has to come to Nigeria, even if it’s only for two days. He said the next time I am performing, he has to be on stage with me.”
