In this video, Nigerian-born Adewale Adeyemo, who is the United States deputy treasury secretary, expresses the US commitment to strengthening relations with Nigeria and calls for urgent reforms in three aspects which he argues are central to development.

Nigeria needs a stable Naira which, according to him, will create macroeconomic stability that will stimulate both local and foreign investment.

He states that the government needs to articulate a credible fiscal strategy that will provide the resources for critical investment. He also applauds the recent policy to remove subsidies from petroleum products.

Adeyemo also identifies fighting corruption in the business environment. He adds that the perception of corruption by the Nigerian public contributes to the lack of support that the government gets in the pursuit of some of its agenda.
