Tanzanian Bongo Flava star, Diamond Platnumz, said he was robbed of some his valuables by fans while performing in a concert in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on a Friday.

The “Wasafi” star who confirmed the incident in a video on his Instagram page, said he was making his way to the stage during a live performance in Lubumbashi, when rowdy fans mobbed him and took items from him.

The performance was part of his worldwide tour to promote his FOA EP which Kicked off in May, and has taken to more than 15 Africa and Europe countries.

In the Instagram video clip, Diamond is seen walking between the crowd headed to the stage when the fans overwhelmed him and overpowered his security as they got a hold of him and stripped the orange marvin from his head.

Others were seen attempting to grab his beanie hat, sunglasses, chains and other items but he managed to hold on to his chains as he escaped and climbed to the stage.

“But I still love you Lubumbashi …halaf kesho eti mtu anakupangia matumizi” (Then someone will start directing you on how to spend your money),” Diamond wrote as the caption to the video.

Kenya prohibits LGBTQ+ movies from streaming platforms

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has banned movies containing LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) contents from streaming platforms in the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of the KFCB, Christopher Wambua, who made the announcement at a press conference on Thursday, insisted that movies that contain same-sex contents are prohibited in the Kenyan Constitution, hence the board will continue its crackdown on such contents in the mainstream media.

“The country’s laws do not allow LGBTQ+ content or even relationships. Even as we rate and classify content, we also consider other applicable laws,” Wambua said.

Describing some films as “explicit portrayal of homosexuality-related scenes,” Wambua said such movies have already been barred from broadcast in the country.

The censor board CEO particularly referred to the Netflix streaming site saying that talks were underway with the US-based company to ensure that future access to homosexual content was restricted.

“Because of our discussions with Netflix, they are curating their classification system that is very aligned with our laws with the view of ensuring that in future once we sign the agreement, some of this content is not visible at all within the republic,” he said.

(VIDEO) Nigerian Afrobeat star, Burna Boy locks down South Africa as over 100,000 attend ‘DSTV Delicious Festival 2022’

Nigerian Afrobeats star, Burna Boy, on Saturday night, showed, yet again, why he is the undisputed “African Giant” when he brought down the roof at the DSTV Delicious Festival 2022 held at the Kylami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The much anticipated event, which brought over 100,000 fans to see the Nigerian singer who gave a sterling performance, saw the crowd rocking along with the ‘Last Last’ crooner throughout the duration of his performance at the concert.

And Burna Boy did not disappoint the mammoth crowd as he churned out hit after hit to the delight of the fans who kept yelling for more.

The highlight of the night came when South African rapper and Burna Boy’s sworn enemy, AKA, got on the stage and the duo performed a duet from Burna’s “All Eyez On Me” track, which got the crowd almost bringing down the roof of the arena.

Burna and AKA who were hitherto close friend fell out in 2019 following a series of xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerians in Johannesburg which the Nigerian star condemned vehemently.

In a Twitter post, Burna had called on Nigerians and other black foreigners living in South Africa to “defend and protect themselves” against their attackers.

The tweet did not go down well with AKA whose response further angered the Nigerian, leading to the two acts engaging each other in a bitter war of words.

It got so bad they resorted to issuing threats to each other, with Burna Boy threatening to beat up AKA if he dared come into Nigeria.

Though there has been no record of the two stars publicly reconciling, it was a delight to see them perform together for the first time in years on his first return to South Africa after the fallout.
