Robbers attack ex-Gabonese captain, Aubameyang, at his Barcelona home, steal valuables

Former Gabon national team captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, was reportedly attacked and robbed of his valuables including an expensive jewellery belonging to his wife at his Barcelona, Spain, home in the early attacked and hours of Monday.

A statement by his club said a group of masked men broke into Aubameyang’s Barcelona home and held him and his wife hostage at gun point before robbing them.

The 33-year-old former Arsenal striker who moved to Barca in January, was reportedly visibly shaken up by the experience but the La Liga club said he and his wife are doing well while the police has also promised to apprehend the criminals.

“Aubameyang was hit and forced to open a safe where the couple kept jewellery. The attackers allegedly threatened him and his wife with guns and iron bars. Authorities said at least four men entered the player’s home and then escaped in a car,” the club said in the statement.

This is the second time a Barcelona player will be robbed in two weeks after former Bayern Munich frontman, Robert Lewandowski, was robbed of an expensive watch while signing autographs and posing for pictures at the Catalan club’s training centre.
