The 18th edition of the World Athletics Championships (WAC) which ended on July 24 in Eugene, Oregon in the United States of America, would remain memorable for Africa as quite a good number of the continent’s athletes broke records, both personal, national, African and world records which further cemented the continents elite athletes as some of the best in the world.
With more than 1,900 athletes representing 190 nations of the world, the competition was an avenue for them to fulfill their lifelong ambitions of conquering the world and taking their countries to glory.

47 African countries took part in the 10 days sporting event, athletes from seven countries made it to the podium with the most notable being Nigeria’s 100 meter hurdler, Tobiloba Amusan who broke the world record twice in 90 minutes – though the second record was not recognize as it was adjudged to be wind-aided.
