Egyptian national team captain, Mohamed Salah, has ended speculations on his stay at English Premier League giants, Liverpool, by extending his contract for another three years worth £350,000 per week.
Before putting pen to paper to stay with the Reds till 2025, there were rumours that Salah could follow fellow African Sadio Mané out of the club but on Friday, Liverpool announced they have reached an agreement to renew the player’s contract.
With the new deal, the Pharaohs star will now rank among the top earners in the history of the six times European champions.
Shortly after signing the new contract, Salah said:
“I feel great and I am excited to win trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone. It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next.
“I think we have won good trophies together. And I think we can do it again. We won so many things together. We had some disappointments, but this is football. I have enjoyed my football here at the club and hopefully I will continue to enjoy it and win many trophies.”
The contract extension also puts an end to speculations over the future of the Egyptian player who has scored 156 goals in 254 appearances so far in his career with the Reds since his arrival from AS Roma in 2017.
Salah is one of the most important players in Liverpool and his departure would have been seriously felt after the club lost Senegalese captain Mané to perenial German champions Bayern Munich.
